The Slovak Medical Chamber was established in its current form in 1990. Membership is voluntary, but registration is compulsory for the physicians in Slovakia.

 

Tasks and responsibilities 

• Protect the social, professional and economic interests of the physicians
• Advocate high professional and ethical standards among the members of the Chamber
• Participate in efforts to encourage preventive healthcare
• Support the interests and protect the professional honour of members
• Approve professional practice
• Education of members
• Attempt to influence state health policy
• Professional code
• Legal protection of members
• Registration, licensing, CME, monitoring quality assurance
